The two valleys of Lahaul and Spiti are at a height of 3000 – 4800 metres lie across Rohtang Pass. Both valleys are cut off from rest of the world, for much of the year due to snow fall. The valley is situated in rain shadow area, north of the Pir Panjal ranges. It is surrounded by Jammu & Kashmir in the north, Kullu in the south and by Chamba in the west. The valley of Lahoul is situated to the south of Ladakh. For this reason this place derived its name 'Lho-Yul' meaning 'Southern Country'. The valleys. mountains, glaciers, rivers, forests, and ancient buildings of the former ruling dynasty are the main attractions.

Tabo Monastery is one of the well known and most visited monasteries in Spiti and is also known as the ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas'. It is located at an altitude of 3050 m with arid and rocky landscape and is about 45 km from the town of Kaza. This ancient monastery has many Buddhist documents and scriptures, along with Buddhist statues and paintings. It is surrounded by a mud brick wall and has 9 temples.
Locally known as Kunzum la) is the pass leading to the Spiti Valley from the district of Lahaul passing through the Rohtang Pass is located at high altitude of 4551 m. Kunzum Pass or The pass is known for its terrain which provides an amazing view of the Himalayas. The pass is well known among trekkers and adventure enthusiasts. 
It is around 18 km from the town of Keylong and is situated on the banks of the beautiful Chandra River. The village is a popular for its scenic landscape and the royal houses. The royal home of the Thakur of Gonda, a eight storied building is unique in its architecture. There is a fair that takes place in Gonda every year in the month of July which sees many tourists coming into the village.
It is a picturesque village in Lahaul and located at height of 3360 m on Bhaga River. Darcha is an ideal destination to experience village life and beautiful landscape with the dry snowy desert beyond it. This is the starting point for trekkers with many beautiful trekking trails around the district.
