About Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is located in northern India. It was created on 1 April 1937 as the United Provinces, and was renamed Uttar Pradesh in 1950. Bordering with the capital of India New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh is one of the most populous state of India and the heartland of India. It is known for its Culture, Heritage and bounties of Nature. The climate of Uttar Pradesh is the tropical monsoon type, with warm weather year-round. Uttar Pradesh is very diverse, with Himalayan foothills in the north and the Gangetic Plain in the centre. It has colour of all faiths and is home to some of the greatest monuments, the most ancient city in the world, the seat of Buddhism. Uttar Pradesh attracts a large number of tourists. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal is located in this state. Tourism in the state is of growing economic importance. Many people visit to Hindu centres such as Varanasi, Allahabad, Ayodhya and the Mathura-Vrindavan area; Other main places flock by tourists includes, Buddhist centres such as Sarnath, Kasia, and Shravasti, and historic places such as Agra and Lucknow.
