Pasighat situated 270 km from Itanagar is also referred to as the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh and 'The Land of rising Sun'. It is the oldest town in the state and popular for scenic splendours. Pasighat was founded in 1911 by the Britishers as a gateway to administrative convenience of the greater Abor Hills and the north area in general. The city serves as the headquarters of the East Siang district. It is home of the Adi tribe and it is the land of Siang river and indigenous hanging bridges. . The famous Siang river rolls across the city and head towards plains where it merged with Dihing and Lohit rivers and ultimately it roars in Assam as the well-known Brahmaputra river. Pasighat is ideal for adventure sports such as river rafting. Pasighat and the area around receives heavy rainfall every year during monsoon season. Pasighat follow its rich culture and tradition. The festivals here are celebrated with great fervour. There are also many tea gardens close to the place. Tourism is also a major source of income of Pasighat as pleasant waterfall graces the mountain cliffs and chills the vicinity.
